In my opinion, here are the two best things you could ever spend money on to grow your business.
For a lot of business owners the thought of spending money on either themselves for self-development, or spending money on marketing their business seems almost wasteful. Many business owners can justify spending money on a plumber, computer technician, book-keeper or janitor but when it comes to spending money on the two most important things that could help grow their business they shutter at the thought.
I’m here to tell you the best things you can do for your business is take care of yourself and invest in yourself, this could be hiring a trainer so you are fit and healthy allowing you to be more productive and positive while you run your business, hiring a business coach or going to a personal councilor. We all have issues and I mean WE ALL HAVE ISSUES. I have not met one person in my 48 years of life on this planet who could not benefit from a little self-discovery, taking a hard and honest look at what they have what they want and how they are going to get there. So many business owners that I have encountered have self-limiting beliefs but don’t even know it. They may or may not realize they are self-sabotage their own success. Once you can get through the stuff holding you back, you’ll be able to see real growth both in yourself and in your business.
Now when it comes to marketing again, this is where most business owners say “Oh I can do it, I don’t need to hire anyone to help me with my website or branding, I can manage it”, or “We’ll get to it, but right now we have other priorities”. That is such a huge mistake, and I’m truly not saying that because I help businesses with their marketing. I was at a dinner party the other night and was talking to a friend of mine and he’s a director of a non-profit with over 400 employees and they DON’T have a marketing department or EVEN a designated person in charge of marketing currently. I was blown away. I took a look at their website and an upcoming event they were having and listed off 20 different improvements they could make and all of those ideas were to help them not only increase attendance to their event which would directly increase their monies raised but those recommendations would help strengthen their brand and strengthen their connection to their audience and possible future donors. To be professional you need to act and look professional and that includes investing in the marketing of your business.
